Ron Curle Memorial Scholarship in Pipeline Engineering

The Pipeline Industry was saddened recently at the passing of Ron Curle. Ron was a Pipeliner extraordinaire having over 30 years experience as a Project Manager, Resident Engineer, and Construction Manager on a wide variety of oil and gas pipeline and pipeline facility projects.  Ron's roles have ranged from Manager of Engineering, Manager of Construction, and Commissioning Manager with responsibilities for coordinating engineering disciplines, field program planning, technical review of regulatory submissions and cost and schedule control.

Ron was involved in on and offshore pipeline projects and has been engaged in route location, detailed design, construction planning, and project execution on projects in Canada, United States, South America, Africa, and Australia.

Much of Ron’s career saw him engineering and building pipelines and mentoring young people also involved in this business...to honour his contributions, the Calgary Technical Chapter of ASME Pipeline Systems Division has initiated a Scholarship Fund in Ron’s name at the University of Calgary Schulich School of Engineering, Pipeline Engineering specialization. Yearly scholarships will be awarded to students who are working in the Pipeline Engineering area at the Masters and PhD level to advance their studies.
