The Woelfel Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Award recognizes a product, device, or system displayed at the OTC Conference, which best reflects innovation and/or practical use of mechanical engineering in solving problems, improving design or maximizing performance.

Judging and Awards Process
The deadline to apply for the Woelfel Best Mechanical Engineering Achievement Award is April 8, 2013. The ASME judging committee will review the entries and narrow the competition to finalists prior to OTC 2013. The finalists will be notified by April 26, 2013 and will be identified by signs and literature at the OTC exhibition. The judging committee will visit the finalists’ displays on opening day and select a winner.
Finalists will be required to submit a short video describing their entry. Please see this example from the 2012 ceremony.

On Monday, May 6th at 6:00 p.m., the ASME-IPTI Petroleum Division will host a private cocktail reception
to honor the finalists at Reliant Park. All finalists and their representatives are invited to attend the reception where the winner of this prestigious award will be revealed.
A press release announcing the finalists and BMEA winner will be circulated to industry media following the Monday night award announcement affording them the opportunity to visit the finalists’ displays during the
remainder of OTC.
